Research
Dr. Hoy's research concentrations are family business, franchising and technology entrepreneurship. He is a past editor of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and was editor for Latin America for the Journal of World Business. Most recently, he co-edited a special issue of the European Journal of International Management on entrepreneurship in Europe. Hoy is a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute and of the International Family Enterprise Research Academy.
Research Grants
- Project director for $2,000,000 grant from the U.S. Customs Service to establish the Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade. Part of a $10,000,000 grant to a consortium of Texas A&M University, Texas A&M International University, the University of Texas at Austin, and UTEP, 1995-98. Additional $625,000 allocated to UTEP from $2,500,000 appropriated for Consortium, 1997.
- Co-Principal Investigator, Community Partnership Program, Kellogg Foundation, $1,250,000, 1997-2002.
- Principal Investigator, Secondary Education Entrepreneurship Development Program, Coleman Foundation, $50,000, 2002-03.
